The Last Laugh

She watched them cry and mourn. Oh they would miss her. She'd miss them too.

But she was better off here. Finally, she had the peace her name had promised her for 78 years. No doctors. No tubes. No needles. No ugly hospital gowns. No numbers and data telling people how well (or not) she was doing.

If only she could tell them how glad she was that one crazy life was over. Heaven had a lot of parties and boy, was she going to live it up for a change.

Hi Anaminka - this is so touching. You should write more often!

On a side note, you live in Bombay right? If so, can I ask you something?

Nits: Thanks. Yes I do live in Bombay, though I'm not there right now. But do ask :)

G: {thanks}

Suki: Heh heh. Heading over towards the light of happiness.

I'm totally sure that's exactly how she's feeling, Anamika. In fact, we're all just people-in-waiting, waiting to join the Ultimate Great Party. In the meantime, we'll continue to practise smaller, more amateurish versions here, so we don't lose our touch. :0)
big hug to you, girl.

Sandeepa: Thanks. Yup, am ok. Been having a rough time but should be fine!

Read this post without realizing you were writing about your life. Please accept my condolences, Anamika.

Iz: Darkness doesn't suit your pink-pink page :)

A Muser: Thanks. Guess I wasn't as subtle as I'd thought I was being!

I guess I was too lost in thinking of Mum to realise you were writing as personally as I was thinking.
Glad you're this way... already.

I remember, about a year after Mum died, telling one of my aunts that I could imagine her writing a letter inviting us to the last rites. It went somewhat like this -
"Hey, I moved here on the 15th, and I'm really busy reorganising the furniture. I like the people here, and they've been very good in helping me adjust. I feel at peace here, which is good since moves like this are permanent. However, we can have one final goodbye together in one of my favourite places... (the address of CR Park Shiv Mandir). See you there!"

Been years since I thought of that, that way. Thank you for the reminder.
Glad you're holding on. It's so much easier when you realise they're at peace, and that seeing them hurt and ache more and more would be a lot worse.
You're both doing well. :hugs:

You were subtle. That's why I didn't get it until I read the comments. :)

Suki: That was a very, very nice way of putting it. Am guessing your mom and my Dida are laughing about teh way friendships form in heaven and in cyberspace!

A Muser: Ok! :)

Anamika, Sorry, I didn't realize this was a personal post either. Hope you are feeling better.

The reason I asked is a weird one - an animal rights organization I used to work with, is looking for someone to adopt a kitten they found almost being run over on Peddar Road. I have few contacts left in Bombay and of course you might hate cats and dogs for all I know, but was looking for some socially conscious people to pass on the info to.

Sorry that was long - but if you know people who can pass it on, i can send you the info and pic.
